On Friday 29th March we were joined by a team from Birmingham airport to help us do various jobs around the farm including to help us start developing the new sensory garden. Before the team arrived The base for the new shed has now been dug out and the new path way which will weave around the garden has been mapped out. The pathway will ensure that the garden is accessible to those in wheelchairs so that they can also enjoy the garden. The sensory garden is starting to take shape The team also stained the two new offices, as…
The dry warmer weather has been fantastic at the farm and all of the animals and plants have been enjoying the recent sunshine. We have all taken the opportunity of the dry weather to do some repairs. The beach garden has now got a new walk way and a new gate is going into the horse field. The farm has had an exciting new addition over winter which we cant wait to share with you once its completed! We are looking forward to 2019 and all of the new projects we can get stuck into - including a new sensory…
November is a time for finishing off projects and getting ready for colder weather approaching us in winter. Some of the vegetable beds have been covered and insulated, this is to stop any new seeds from settling into the soil and to keep the soil a little warmer so that any seeds already in the bed wont be killed in colder temperatures. The horticulture team are in full swing with making wreaths ready for our sales day on 7th December 11-3. Be sure to pop down and check the farm out, there will be lots on offer including Christmas trees,…
Over the past couple of weeks we have been joined by some fantastic employees from Cadent who have totally transformed the far end of the farm! Cadent who look after gas pipes all of the UK bought all their skills, man power and machines to achieve something truly amazing! Some of you may have seen the big lump of soil we had positioned at the end of the farm with the long-term plan of turning into a sensory garden feeling very much in the future. The Cadent team came in and set to work by beginning to strim the whole…
Last week we had a huge team (over 100 people!) come from Lloyds to come and tackle some projects at the farm with us. By the end of the day it looked like a fairy godmother had come and waved a magic wand around the farm! The groups split into several teams tackling different projects around the farm. Three of the teams headed to the winter field where the horses and sheep will be throughout the winter. The fields fence line was tidied up as the team pruned back a lot of branches allowing us to check the fencing a…
Once again we have had another busy and rather hot few weeks at the farm! The warm weather has certainly been testing and we have now become very skilled at finding shady areas to carry on working in! The wood work team have been incredibly busy building a new office which is absolutely fantastic! The autumn bedding plants are starting to spring into action and we have some really fantastic plants and baskets available this year! All are on sale at the front of Berrys Cafe so if your passing be sure to pop in and take a look! Our…
This blog is to say a huge thank you to all the students, teachers and parents at Eversfield School who chose the farm as their charity for the year. The students have been taking part in a huge amount of activities to raise money as well as regularly coming down and visiting us at the farm to see what we get up to on a day-to-day basis. They also designed and created our fantastic new sign at the front gates! A couple of weeks ago Eversfield invited Kate our horticulture instructor to their open afternoon, where they presented us…
Its been a busy couple of months at the farm with everything really growing and fruit and veg starting to be harvested from the vegetable beds and poly tunnels. Last week we were joined by our good friends from Lex Auto Lease again for a couple of days volunteering at the farm. The vegetable beds benefited from some weeding from the team so that new seeds can be sown and existing vegetables can continue to thrive. The next huge make over was for the field shelter which was looking in a very sorry state after this very wet winter! The…
We have all welcomed some warmer weather at the farm this April! We have finally finished lambing with Lion making us wait 5 weeks after the first ewe lambed! The tipi is now up ready for all of the wedding we have ahead of us this summer! It is looking especially good this year surrounded by its new fencing! All of the grass and plants have really shot up over the past couple of the weeks and the farm is really starting to fill up with colour. We even managed to get into the fields to give them a harrow…
Last Tuesday and Wednesday we were joined at the farm by a team from Xoserve who came to put up our new tipi fencing, help us with log splitting and start the new compost bays. This was the beginning of the 'beast from the east' and what started as a flutter of snow quickly turned into making this a very challenging couple of days for the teams! At the end of day one we had a beautiful new enclosed Tipi area which looked absolutely fantastic! The team did a fantastic job bashing in over 20 posts and then attaching the…
