Helping project workers and NHS staff during Covid-19

Like the rest of the country the Family Care Trust has had to make several changes to its services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Newlands Bishop Farm, Community Gardening Services and Dementia Blanning Day Centre have all had to temporarily close their doors to clients during this time. The staff at the farm have continued high levels of care by going out into the community to take project workers essential supplies, pick up prescriptions, do any shopping required and to check in to offer them any support they might require. Trivia night thank you!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our first Trivia & Chilli Night. This event was part of the Family Care Trusts 25th Anniversary celebrations and it was so wonderful to see the event so well supported.The evening raised over £1200 towards our £250,000 target in our 25th Anniversary year. Thank you to our quiz master Steve and everyone who help make the evening enjoyable, plus those who donated raffle prizes. We appreciate all your support to help make these events such a hit!

Npower staff power through jobs at the farm

Today we were joined by some fabulous teams from Npower who helped us get a lot of jobs done all over the farm in the very best wet British summertime weather! The teams helped us get lots of logs spilt ready for winter, weeded the vegetable beds and tackled a huge fencing project! The fencing at the back of the barn involved installing two gate posts, hanging gates, digging and concreting in all fence posts. New Recruits

Once again we have had another busy and rather hot few weeks at the farm! The warm weather has certainly been testing and we have now become very skilled at finding shady areas to carry on working in! We completed our Triathlon!

We completed our Triathlon!

I'm sure that most of you have seen the pictures of the team finishing the triathlon this weekend and the pained look in their faces whilst completing each of their relevant sections! It was one hell of a challenge but the usual NBF team spirit was in full swing and we all cheered each other through! BBQ season

BBQ season

Check out how the BBQ area now looks! In true British fashion as the concrete arrived the rain came down! Luckily it stopped not long after to allow the concrete to set! A huge thank you must go to Eamon McEvilly from EP McEvilly Contractors Ltd who organised all of the concrete and the brick work. Knowle and Doritch rotary club continue to support the farm massively and recently invited two project workers along to Copt Heath golf club as part of their fundraising activities for local charities. Sales Day Sunshine

Wow the weather really delivered this sales day! The sun shone and the field was full of cars. We have changed the layout of the farm and so it meant that we had to change the normal positioning of things! Berrys cafe was stocked full of lovely cakes and food ready for everyone to tuck into... The wood work team had a variety of crafts on sale outside the back of Berrys cafe which looked fantastic in the sunshine. A Pizza Oven!

Check out our new amazing pizza oven outside Berry's Cafe! A massive thank you to DHL for fundraising a huge amount for the oven and to Land Rover for building the base and fencing around it! The project workers are really excited to use it! We will be looking to build a BBQ next to it so that the decking facilities can be used for events in the future as well as just the Cafe! IMI come to the farm in force!

120 IMI employees made their way to the farm last week for three hours carrying out various make overs all over the farm. There was plenty of painting, demolishing, digging, bashing, pruning and drilling take place!
