Thank you to everyone that came to our open day today! It was a bit soggy but it was so fantastic to see everyone enjoying the scarecrows, opening the sensory garden with the team from Cadent (who helped get this project started!) cutting the ribbon on the new tractor with Eversfield School whose fundraising enabled us to purchase the tractor, and of course being able to show the mayor of Solihull all of our new projects. Eversfield School deliver a huge present

Today was a very special day at the farm as we took delivery of a very special present from Eversfield School. Students from the school have been fundraising for the last year to raise over £15,000 towards the new tractor. The tractor will be a huge upgrade from our existing tractor which is now looking forward to a happy retirement! We cannot thank all the staff and students at Eversfield for their hard work and generosity, we will be having a grand opening for the tractor at our open day in September.

A big surprise from Eversfield School

A big surprise from Eversfield School

This blog is to say a huge thank you to all the students, teachers and parents at Eversfield School who chose the farm as their charity for the year. The students have been taking part in a huge amount of activities to raise money as well as regularly coming down and visiting us at the farm to see what we get up to on a day-to-day basis. They also designed and created our fantastic new sign at the front gates!   A couple of weeks ago Eversfield invited Kate our horticulture instructor to their open afternoon, where they presented us…

Farming and fundraising with friends

Farming and fundraising with friends

October has been an incredible month at the farm where we have been joined by so many people lending us a helping hand. It started when we were joined by Wallace Robinson & Morgan solicitors who came and gave us a hand harvesting loads of produce from the vegetable beds as well as log splitting and weeding the vegetable beds. We are still in complete shock at the size of the parsnips which appeared ha ha! Our second set of helping hands came from Jaguar Landrover who joined us over two days to help replace our vegetable patch fencing! This…

We completed our Triathlon!

I'm sure that most of you have seen the pictures of the team finishing the triathlon this weekend and the pained look in their faces whilst completing each of their relevant sections! It was one hell of a challenge but the usual NBF team spirit was in full swing and we all cheered each other through! Our total stands at £1100 at the moment with more sponsorship still coming in :) Here are three of the swimmers just finishing there 1500m swim in the lake! The cyclists come home after finishing 60k out on the roads.. Then the runners take…

Farming In February!

We are already flying into February and we have lots to show you! To begin we are going over to Community Gardening Services (CGS) who are based in Chelmsley Wood. They offer a variety of gardening/ landscaping services and recently tackled this overgrown garden! Check out the before and after!  We have all been enjoying the ups and downs of the winter weather, and are all looking forward to some spring sunshine! Although none of us like the rain, we don't mind it as much when we get a nice rainbow at the end of it!   Some of our…

Wild warrior run success!

Wow! We are over whelmed with support we received and the donations given in aid of us completing the wild warrior run on 21st September. We had the aim of raising £1000 which would be used to buy a poo picking machine to use in the horse fields. We surpassed that target by miles and the total currently stands at almost £2200! This piece of kit will be a massive addition to the horse care team and will allow more time to be spent working with the horses and not just cleaning the fields. All those that completed the 10k…

Snow fun!

What a change the weather has bought! The farm is under a blanket of snow, all the horses have their nice warm rugs on and the chickens are in the stable keeping warm! Everyone at the farm would like to thank everyone involved with fun in the park in Solihull, organised by Solihull's Soroptomist society. They have very generously raised £1500 for the farm! The money will be put to good use around the farm and we would once again like to thank all those that went to and organised the day! As you can see the blog has changed…

A magic wand is waved around the farm…

Despite the weather last week was full of productivity at the farm. The NEC maintenance team came in for the week to help continue renovating the cabin located down the end of the farm ready for it to evolve into an outdoor children’s nursery. It appeared to be transformed from an ugly duckling to a swan and now looks fantastic. Many thanks to the team that came for their time and all their hard work and expertise! IMI (an engineering company) also came on mass to the farm on Thursday with over 65 people coming to help with various jobs…
